Overview

Decommissioning a Project is triggered by CS Controlling a Stage when the project is nearing the end of the final stage. There is no specific sequence for the CP Closing a Project sub-processes there after.

The Project Manager should prepare the Project Closure Recommendation for the Project Board. In particular this sub-process involves:

Tips

  • The Project Manager (with help from Project Assurance and Project Support) should take this opportunity to review the project files from the Project Document Management, removing files that will not be useful to future projects or audits (i.e. perhaps remove multiple versions of documents)
  • Ensure all products in the Project Initiation Document have been approved and delivered
  • Teams to provide on going support to the project's products should formally accept relevant product's hand-overs.
  • If the closure or hand-over is a legal agreement it is important that these documents have been included as project products in the relevant stage.
