Overview
The aim of Project Evaluation Review is to evaluate the success of the project, not the products of the project (which is done in the Post Project Review). The Lessons Learned Log is used to create the Lessons Learned Report, and the updated Project Plan enables the creation of an End Project Report.
The Lessons Learned Log is created at the beginning of the project, it contributes to the Lessons Learned Report that answers the questions "what should be done differently next time?" As part of this a Configuration Audit should be done (as part of CP1 Decommissioning a Project) - any discrepancies may justify an entry in the Lessons Learned Report. The Project Board should receive a copy of the Lessons Learned Report.
The End Project Report allows the Project Manager to review the effectiveness of the project management processes and how well it has performed relative to the Project Initiation Document (PID) (including Tolerances). Those benefits that cannot be measured until after the project has closed should be included in the Post Project Review or Follow-on Action Recommendations (CP2 Identifying Follow-on Actions). The End Project Report should also include how well the project fulfilled its objectives, including the success of:
- Any tailoring of specialist processes
- Quality measurements
- Change control.
