Overview

The Project Brief authorises the Project (at the end of SU Starting up a Project). It is not the same as the Project Mandate. The principle difference is that the Project Mandate is produced by Senior Management before PRINCE2 processes start, the Project Brief is produced by the Executive and by the Project Manager during SU4 Preparing a Project Brief. Therefore the Mandate is not a PRINCE2 management output but the Project Brief is.

Tips

  • Do not spend too long on the Project Brief scope - that time is for the PID, the emphasis should be more on getting crucial project aims confirmed quickly.
