Overview
Meeting the Customer's quality expectations is one of the keys to a successful project. The Project Quality Plan is planned in IP1 Planning Quality. The Project Quality Plan outlines what procedures and Project Controls will be followed to achieve the Customer's quality expectations.
PRINCE2 uses the following to control and measure the quality expectations of a project:
The Project Mandate or Project Brief should contain statements of quality expectations and planning. These can form the basis of the Project Quality Plan.
The Project Manager is responsible for creating the Project Quality Plan with help from Project Assurance or Quality Assurance if necessary. Responsibilities for individual products and overall project objectives are stated in the Project Quality Plan. In particular the quality responsibilities of the Project Board and the Project Manager should be stated. The Project Quality Plan is approved as part of the Project Initiation Document by the Project Board in DP2 Authorising a Project.
Where the techniques and standards of an existing Quality Management System are used they should just be referenced. The Project Quality Plan should include the following sections:
