Overview

The Supplier provides the necessary skills to carry out the project and are responsible for the quality of specialist products. PRINCE2 is defined in terms of a Customer / Supplier environment. The Supplier may pass on work to a third party called a sub-contractor. Both the Supplier and subcontractors are stakeholders of the project along with Customers and Users. There may be one or more Suppliers to a project (distinct from sub contractors) all Suppliers should be represented on the Project Board. The Senior Supplier role is responsible for the Supplier Business Case.

Tips

In a project there are two business cases; That of the Supplier and that of the Customer. PRINCE2 is only concerned about the Customer's Business Case.

Notes

  • This role is termed a "project interest", there are two other "project interests"; User and Business
  • Represented by the Senior Supplier to ensure the project uses the necessary skills to complete the project
  • Supplies the necessary skills to create the end product, using in-house and external teams
  • Often the supplier will have their own Business Case and/or Project Board.
