Overview

The User is the person or group who will use or operate the project's final product(s). The User could be the Customer. In PRINCE2 the User is a "project interest" and is represented on the Project Board by the Senior User role. The User(s) are consulted about the development of the Product(s) during the PL Planning sub process PL2 Defining and Analysing Products to ensure that all required product specifications are identified.

Tips

  • Should you have a large group of Users wanting to be on the Project Board create a separate group which then elects one 'spokesperson' as the Senior User. This will help avoid the Project Board becoming overwhelmed with discussion rather then decision-making.

Notes

  • The person or group who will use the final deliverable(s) of the project.
  • This role is termed a "project interest", there are two other "project interests" Business and Supplier
  • They will be impacted by the outcome
  • They will use the end result (i.e. product) to deliver benefits to the business.
